The mandate of the Museum of Bas-Saint-Laurent is to educate visitors on, and preserve Quebecois contemporary art, ethnology and early photography. The museum has 200,000 photos and 1,500 works of art in its collection, and puts on eight to 12 exhibitions a year.
The Musee de bateaux miniatures & legendes du Bas-Saint-Laurent (Museum of Miniature Boats & Legends of the Bas-Saint-Laurent) displays over 160 miniature boats ranging in size from 45 cm (18 in) to 1.8 m (6 ft). The museum's goal is to act as a tribute to the local artisans that built the boats. There is also an exhibit called The Quay, and a small art gallery filled with works by local artists that tell the legends of Bas-Saint-Laurent.
